If Today Is Heavy, Here Is One Quiet Thing
Maybe you are not sure what to call what you are going through. Maybe you have not said it out loud to anyone. Maybe you just ended up here.
That is fine. You do not have to decide anything today. You do not need a label to deserve a quiet minute.
One quiet thing
Here is one small thing you can do right now, wherever you are.
- Find something with color in it. A page, a mug, a sleeve, the sky out a window.
- Look at it for one slow breath. Just look. Notice where the color is brightest.
- Ask yourself one honest question: "What would make the next hour a little easier?"
You do not have to answer it well. You only have to ask.
You are allowed to ask for help early
A lot of people wait until things are very bad before they talk to someone. You do not have to wait. Telling one person the truth, a friend, a doctor, a counselor, someone who has been where you are, is a real step. It counts even if it is small.
If you are in danger or feel you cannot keep yourself safe, please reach out right now. In the US you can call or text 988 any time. More options are on our crisis resources page.
For the days after today
When you are ready, coloring can be a gentle thing to keep nearby: something for your hands, a task small enough to finish, a page that does not judge you. It is not a cure and it is not treatment. It is a quiet place to sit while you figure out the next step.
What is one color that makes you feel even a little calmer? Leave it in the comments, or just keep it for yourself today.
Color slowly. Breathe. Begin again.
