An Eight-Hour Night Meditation for Men in Recovery
Nights can be the hardest part of the day in recovery. The house gets quiet, the day's thoughts catch up with you, and a lot of us have lain there wishing for something steady to listen to.
We made one. It is a new, free night meditation on the Colors in Recovery YouTube channel: 8-Hour Recovery Sleep Meditation for Men.
JC M. put it simply in the video description: this is the night meditation he wishes he'd had in early recovery. He looked for one back then and never found one he really liked, so we made it.
What is in it
- A short guided intro to set the day down.
- 130 affirmations about strength, discipline, integrity, service and freedom from addiction, spoken slowly with long quiet pauses between them.
- Ocean waves and the occasional owl under a moonlit beach, kept steady all the way through so nothing jolts you.
- One calm, unchanging picture, so the screen does not pull at your attention.
How to use it
- Press play as you get into bed. Turn the screen brightness down, or turn the screen away.
- Keep the volume low. You do not have to listen closely. The words are there if you want them and the waves are there if you do not.
- Let it run. It is eight hours long, so there is nothing to restart in the night.
Some people like to make it a nightly habit. Others save it for the rough nights. Either is fine, and there is nothing to get right.
A word about what it is
This is a quiet companion for the night, written in the spirit of recovery. It is not medical advice and it is not a treatment for anything.
